Outreach
From Thierry Dudok de Wit:
Other actions like COST have the habit of writing at their launch an article in which they expose the frame and tell what they shall do. See for example for the latest COST 803 action: http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/2009/2008SW000451.shtml I am personally reluctant to write an article about future plans but alas, this is another way of making our action better known.
For example, ESA and several national teams are instauring a yearly "day of the Sun" on June 21st. This has gradually started in some countries, and we're planning this year to have to activities related to that in Orléans. This would be a good opportunity to mention Soteria. Conversely, it would be good to involve Soterians.
The Europlanet action (similar size to ours, 4M€ budget, but more participants) has made a 5 minute video on its activities. See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Bn_lhDXWSA&playnext_from=PL&feature=PlayList&p=8465F27B9E5C4A8E&playnext=1&index=22 This hints about what we could do. Again, The EU is very sensitive to that and the more successful we are in their eyes, the more successful forthcoming actions in space weather are likely to be.
From Gianni Lapenta:
On the first suggestion from Thierry, besides the paper published on the EU parliament magazine, I think we ought to pursue a large distribution science journal, such as EOS of the AGU. Anybody has other similar papers to suggest? We could co-author a draft to circulate among us and then publish on EOS (for example).
