Persons present:
- Members of the SOTERIA Steering Board:
- Giovanni Lapenta (WP1, coordinator)
- András Ludmány (WP2)
- Volker Bothmer (WP3)
- Susanne Vennerström (WP4)
- Thierry Dudok de Wit (WP5)
- David Berghmans (WP6)
- Paola Chiarini - Project Officer
- Alexi Glover - referee
- Norma Crosby - member of the Advisory Board
- Jean-Marie Malherbe - Observatory Paris, Meudon (OBSPARIS)
Discussion
- P. Chiarini asks the SB members whether they accept the participation of the referee. No objection is announced.
- G. Lapenta announces the program.
- P. Chiarini explains the agenda - what to do.
- G. Lapenta introduces the project.
- G. Lapenta presents the one-page summaries of all beneficiaries.
- The WP leaders present the brief annual summaries of the work packages.
- J.-M. Malherbe presents the problem of OBSPARIS. The D2.3 deliverable, the "NaD1 magnetograms" program is delayed and a new deliverable is proposed instead. J.-M. Malherbe requests not to delete the D2.3 entirely because he wants to establish this new kind of observations but no deadlines can be promised because of the modified personal conditions in OBSPARIS. The new deliverable is proposed to be part of WP3 under the title "Coupling observations, coronal magnetic modelling, and MHD numerical simulations".
- A. Ludmány (on behalf of WP2) argues that the modification is not a drawback to the project because the situation changed since the preparation of the project proposal: the launch of a new space instrument, the SDO, is due within a few weeks and it will provide magnetograms with high spatial resolution and high cadence. If the OBSPARIS team will instead focus on a new topic then it will enrich the output of the project.
- A. Glover announces that she finds the modification acceptable.
- P. Chiarini explains the formal requirements of the modifications, the deliverable should be precisely described and milestone(s) should be specified for the incorporation into the project.
- Following the presentation of D. Berghmans (WP6) P. Chiarini asks the following questions:
- anybody can upload to the document repository?
- is the SOTERIA Virtual Observatory an open interface?
- how is it developed?
- is it open to other providers and users?
- The answer is that the VO is completely open in all above aspects.
- Plans for the 2nd year are briefly overviewed,
- milestones due in the 2nd year
- events in the 2nd year:
- Conferences (EGU, Vienna; SCOSTEP, Berlin; COSPAR, Bremen; Hvar)
- Space Weather School at Trieste, Italy, 18-29 Oct.
- 2nd Annual Meeting in Hungary,
- V. Bothmer comments that all events should be indicated on the webpage
- Final comments of P. Chiarini:
- The project and the progress are basically good.
- If something is delivered she needs information.
- If a deliverable is finished she asks to send in CD.
- There is no dissemination budget.
- Relevance of travels to the US should be explained if not mentioned in the plans
- Reports should be made by template.
- Missing Form C from Paris should be presented, this retains the payment to the entire consortium. If everything will be found OK the payment is due within 105 days at the latest.
- Put all relevant pieces of information to the wiki.
