C.M.E. Initiation Challenge
Within the Soteria network, a new numerical Grand Challenge is launched: the comparison of models for c.m.e. initiation by means of numerical codes using different theoretical approximations within the magnetohydrodynamics theoretical framework:
- Ideal MHD
- Resistive MHD (Different resitivities)
- Zero beta MHD
- Two fluid (with comparisons to kinetic)
- ...
The aim is to establish useful benchmarks for different codes now and in the future. Two models:
- Twisted flux ropes (Birn et al 2006)
- Arched, twisted magnetic flux tube (Fan & Gibson 2004)
